“Photography is the story you fail to put into words”

“THE ARTIST BEHIND “the essentials”

Let me introduce you to Sarah Wilson, professional photographer based in Austin TX.

COVID-19 completely changed our way of life, when most of us were stuck at home watching Netflix, Sarah was brainstorming a way to honor the brave first responders fighting COVID first hand, specially, female first responders, so she came up with the idea to grab her trusted Canon 5D MKIII camera, take some portraits, and make it BIG, literally.

Social Practice in 2020, Museums and Cultural Centers commissioned artists to train in Social Practice, and to organize and engage community in an artistic response to cope with and overcome COVID-19. The program ran from October 5 to March 31, 2021 as “Art Responders". Sarah Wilson being the winner for the grant, and the team at Doughtery Art Center came with the idea to take Sarah's portraits to a whole new level.

Celebrating International Women's Month, we were able to put Sarah in from of the camera this time, to capture her portrait.
